I’ve always loved sphynx cats. They look a little alien, a little royal, and a little ridiculous all at the same time — like they know something we don’t. This one kind of developed a personality while I was painting it. The stare, the attitude… it feels less like a pet and more like a tiny house guardian that quietly judges everything happening in the room.

The warm pinks and the gold background shift a lot depending on the light. The background has gold glitter worked into it, so it actually sparkles in person and changes throughout the day — sometimes soft and warm, sometimes really bright. It’s a small painting but it has a weirdly strong presence once it’s on a wall.
